Mike Lindell, the MyPillow impresario turned political activist, says a major county flip that Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis achieved four years ago may not have happened legitimately.
Speaking on the Lindell Report, Lindell vowed to “find out, in Dade County, what happened there, because it’s a deviation from the norm.”
DeSantis and then-U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio each won with double-digit victories that year, with dominant showings in Miami-Dade as well. The Republican wave election saw the GOP dominate statewide, with margins much stronger for Republican candidates than in any other election in Florida history.
Lindell isn’t convinced, though, saying he doesn’t “believe it.”
Beyond allusions to statistical analysis, Lindell didn’t substantiate his claim. Nor did he offer any proof that the elections in Miami-Dade, which were unchallenged in real time, could have been less than legitimate.
When launching his campaign for President months after his 2022 triumph, DeSantis spotlighted his win in Miami-Dade as a sign of his viability. He promised to “take the victories we delivered in Miami and across the state of Florida and bring them to every corner of the nation.”
“Miami-Dade County was historically a Democratic machine city. But last year, we broke that machine — for good. Our success in 2022 proves that Republicans can win again. Miami’s present can be America’s future,” he said.
President Donald Trump also benefited from shifts in Miami-Dade. He went from 34% of the vote in 2016 to 55% in 2024. Lindell is not focusing on 2024, however.
Ironically, Lindell previously argued that Miami-Dade’s results in 2020 were rigged against Trump, even though he had improved from 2016’s performance.
We have reached out to the Governor’s Office and Secretary of State Cord Byrd for comment, and will update when we hear back.
