Ron DeSantis says Euro ties ‘eroded’ over Islamification, lack of support for Iran war

So much for the special relationship.

Gov. Ron DeSantis says once-reliable American allies like the United Kingdom are privileging Muslims over the historic relationship with the U.S.

On Hannity, DeSantis suggested that ties may be frayed beyond the point of repair. DeSantis said “political and cultural ties” had “eroded” because of “suicidal … mass immigration” and a refusal to cooperate with the American military effort in Iran.

“They’ve really shot themselves in the foot. Look at the United Kingdom. That has been our best ally historically. We obviously came from there. Our culture grew out of English culture — our Constitution, and all this stuff, very tight bond,” DeSantis said.

“But I think what they’ve done and what other European countries have done, they’ve imported, in mass numbers, people who don’t want to be British, don’t want to be French. They want to take where they came from, and they want to change those countries to reflect things like Sharia. So, if the reason why we have been aligned with them for so long is because we have strong political and cultural bonds, well, those have eroded because of decisions that they have made.”

Discussing a ban on Sharia law he signed this week, DeSantis cited the United Kingdom again. He said 10 or 15 years ago, Brits said not to worry about the Islamic legal principle before it took hold. Thus, by banning it preemptively, Florida was “ahead of the curve.”

He went on to express displeasure with America and Israel getting no support from Europe in the Iran conflict that, as of now, is subject to a ceasefire.

“Europe’s made a huge mistake,” he said. “If you don’t want to join a military conflict, that’s one thing, but to not allow us to use bases when we’re not only your top ally, but have funded your defense for decades, I think a lot of people in the United States have taken note of those actions.”
