‘Political target’: Ron DeSantis, Rick Scott zing Zohran Mamdani for putting Ken Griffin at risk

Florida’s Governor and senior U.S. Senator are speaking out about an incendiary video from a leading Democrat.

Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott are ripping a political ad from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for putting Ken Griffin in personal danger, by highlighting Griffin’s $238 million residence by way of promoting a so-called pied-à-terre tax.

Griffin has called the spot a “personal attack” and DeSantis arguably went farther, suggesting Mamdani was trying to rile people against the billionaire financier.

During a segment on Fox News, DeSantis accused Griffin of endeavoring to “go in front of somebody’s house and try to surveil that and put that out to the world … trying to rile people up to maybe do something even worse.”

Other Republicans have reacted, including Sen. Rick Scott.

Scott said Griffin was rendered a “political target” by the ad in an op-ed for the New York Post.

“He stands outside Griffin’s home to name and shame him in a slick social media video. The city’s own mayor villainizes a man who employs thousands, pays an enormous local tax bill and has donated billions to causes benefiting New Yorkers. This isn’t governance — it’s class warfare dressed up as policy.”
