Republican Mike Garcia currently holds a 15.2 percentage point lead over Democrat Christy Smith in California’s 27th Congressional District, according to preliminary Nov. 8 midterm election results. The district includes parts of Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.
Garcia is leading with 57.6 percent of the vote over Smith with 42.4 percent. Garcia has so far received 65,545 votes over Smith’s 48,285, according to results as of 5 p.m. Nov. 9.
Under state law, California Secretary of State Shirley Weber has until Dec. 16 to certify the results.
