Back in the game? Another national poll finds Ron DeSantis with double-digit GOP support in 2028

Surveys continue to show that many Republicans around the country want Florida’s Governor to make another run for the White House.

The latest Echelon Insights poll puts Ron DeSantis in third place, with 12% support. He’s competitive in this survey with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has 17% backing. Both men are far behind Vice President JD Vance, who has 36% support.

An additional 15% of Republican voters don’t know who they want, and no other name polled had more than 6% backing.

This is the second national poll to show DeSantis may have some traction, at least in terms of being in the overall conversation.

A poll from Atlas Intel showed DeSantis at 11%. But in an indication of how fluid these national samples can be, Rubio was at 45%, well ahead of Vance.

DeSantis has said he’s “running through the tape” and will figure out his political future after he leaves the Governor’s Mansion at the end of the year.

He continues to travel nationally as he has since 2023. He will speak to the New York State Republican Party on Tuesday, and has been in various states pushing for constitutional amendments for a federal balanced budget and congressional term limits. Moves like this historically correlate with a desire to cultivate a national profile.

State-level polling doesn’t suggest the same enthusiasm DeSantis is seeing in some national polls. As we’ve written previously, polling in pivotal New Hampshire finds the Governor with 5% support.
