The Democrats picked up another seat in the House, this one in Maine, but it wasn’t enough to stop a Republican takeover of the 435-seat chamber with Republican incumbent Mike Garcia’s announced win in California late on Nov. 16.
Ranked-choice voting (RCV) was used in Maine on Nov. 16 to decide the race between incumbent Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) and Republican challenger Bruce Poliquin for the state’s 2nd Congressional District seat, the largest district east of the Mississippi River.
